I only wish I had called South Bay Equity Lending first. My family was desperate for help to cover my 93‑year‑old mother’s medical bills, and every day felt like a race against time. A previous lender promised a HELOC at the Veterans rate, so we pursued it, but after four months of paperwork and financial disclosures for my mom, my brother and I, his business, and my business, that option was declined.

Worked with Dave Weitzel who was highly recommended and I learned why. We walked in thinking this was a simple equity loan but turned out to be a bit tougher than we expected. There were 3 rounds of conditions that we had to meet and Dave was on it and helped us get through all of it. It was longer than we expected but there were special circumstances that we were able to get through. And Dave and his team behind him never waivered in walking with us or leading us at times.
He and his firm were also thrown some curve balls that made it almost a loss leader for them but they still committed to us and helped us fund a major surgery for my child. So as much as we often are in the business of profit, these guys didn’t drop us and kept walking with us to close this deal and for a greater reason beyond just vacations or a new pool. We are so grateful for having met this team of good people and only know karma pays back sevenfold.

I got a loan from them last year and they were very helpful when I had questions. I had to refinance and wanted to change lenders and everything was quick and smooth. I ended up with a better lender. Matt is friendly and funny so you feel relaxed dealing with him and the company. Being a Dodgers fan and an animal lover was a plus.
I recently purchased a non-warrantable condo, which, if you've experienced this, you know how challenging getting a loan for it can be. I was referred to South Bay Equity Lending who jumped in right away. I worked closely with Dave Weitzel, who explained everything clearly, led me through every step of the process, and was even a step ahead of the process (so I had the right documentation prepared before being needed). This made things go as smooth as could be, and I was able to close this complicated escrow in 30 days! I would highly recommend this group to anyone needing a loan!
